A Journey from the Netherlands to South Africa

Tessa’s story began in the Netherlands, but at the age of 11, she and her family embarked on a significant journey to South Africa. Along with her brother Stefan, she helped her parents, Daan and Yvonne van Leeuwen Boomkamp, settle into their new home. The transition was marked by hard work and dedication as the family refurbished and rebuilt De Leeuwenhof, laying the foundation for the cherished estate it is today.

Education and Professional Growth

After settling into South African life, Tessa attended Bridge House School in Franschhoek, graduating in 2010. Following in her brother’s footsteps, she pursued higher education at Stenden University in Port Alfred, where she gained valuable knowledge and skills for her future role. Her academic journey prepared her well for the challenges and opportunities she would face in managing the estate.

The Office Guru

In her role as General Manager, Tessa excels in managing all bookings and inquiries with precision and efficiency. You’ll primarily find her in the reception area, where she attends to all our guests’ needs with her trademark warmth and professionalism. However, if you don’t spot her there, she may be out on horseback, enjoying a ride, or rescuing a kitten or dog in need. Her commitment to both her role and her passions ensures that every guest's experience is smooth and enjoyable.

A Passion for Animals and Equestrian Life

Outside of her managerial duties, Tessa’s love for animals and horse riding is a defining aspect of her life. She spends her free time with her horses, exploring new riding trails, and participating in equestrian events. Her dedication to animal welfare extends to the care she provides for our rescued pets at De Leeuwenhof, reflecting the Van Leeuwen Boomkamp family's commitment to compassionate living.
