De Leeuwenhof Blog
Welcome to our Blog - your comments and input are very welcome.
Our winter season has started, with a nice rainy day (40mm) and snow on the mountain. Our summer season ended with a nice thunderstorm and a lot of rain in one day. In total we measured 4cm so we still need to get another 138cm to have the yearly average and to fill our dam which gives us the water for the fruit-trees and the wines.
Our winters are not bad at all with a daily temperature of 20-25 and a night temperature of 8-12, only when a rain front passes, it can be colder and overcast and then we have a stove to heat up the living room and we sit and enjoy the fire and the red wines.
It is time now to prune the trees and plants and we are busy with our two field-workers to re-adjust the gardens and to give it all some air.
We had a good guest season in the guest-house with an average 30% more visitors and one can see they all loved what South Africa has to offer.
The winter in the Western Cape is not to be missed either, as there is always something in bloom and a lot of green is to be seen. The combination sun and rain make thing grow to beautiful proportions and the sceneries are fantastic.
Today ( end of april ) we have sun again and temperatures expected to go to 25 or higher and then one gets the take the pictures as shown below.
We live in a beautiful country.
