The beautiful old dutch oak trees need trimming and repairs
The specialists involved think the trees originate from the same period as the main house was build, so nearly 300 years old.
As last week during a perfect quiet day and no wind, suddenly a big branche snapped of, we were all impressed. It took only 10 minutes with a chain saw to remove the branche and one hour later it seemed nothing happened...nevertheless we got the message nature gave us.
We phoned with Paarl municipality and asked them to advice us how to handle the trees. Immediately some-one came to advice us how to proceed and extra material was called to the estate.
As one can see on the picture, the haircut was carried out and the trees look fine again.
Never a dull moment
